We’re proud to announce that Suburban Marble & Granite, the premier provider of granite slabs in Montgomery County, has been featured in the May-June edition of Stone Update Magazine! This publication reports on the North American stone and hard-surfaces industry, and offers in-depth information and perspective, covering a variety of topics such as natural stone, quartz surfaces, and many others, all written with the fabricator and distributor in mind.
Stone Update Magazine sat down with our owner, Brian Rooney, and chatted about a wide range of subjects and all things granite, marble, and quartz. Here’s what he had to say about the past, present, and future of Suburban Marble & Granite.
A Rich History
Brina Rooney discussed his past with the U.S. Marine Corps, and how he didn’t have much experience in the stone trade until he was exposed to it by his father-in-law and then-owner of Suburban Marble & Granite, John Menard, Sr. Menard was contemplating retirement, and Brian was happy to step in as owner in 2016. “It involved manufacturing a product and giving people jobs in America, that really attracted me,” said Brian.
Continual Improvements
During his interview, Brian also discussed some of the changes and improvements he’s made to Suburban Marble & Granite. He talked about how the shop underwent a significant redesign, moving machines to ensure a smoother workflow in their warehouse. A new saw and waterjet were also added, and he’s even expecting to include an overhead hoist system in the near future.
Looking Ahead
Brian is excited about the future and potential growth of the company. He talked about his continuing marketing efforts, including digital marketing and traditional advertising, all to bolster his brand and product. “We’ve invested a lot of time, effort and money,” he said.
And the growth doesn’t end with marketing campaigns. Just recently, Brian visited the Italian company Santamargherita Surfaces, to ensure the highest quality of his products and imports, and to nurture their business relationship with each other.
Brian also lists the family atmosphere as one of his favorite features of working at Suburban Marble & Granite. His passion and dedication to this craft are clear, and treating his customers well and keeping them happy is what makes him tick. “I get excited about the stone and excited watching people come in with their excitement of what they want to do in their homes,” he said.
